Respirators/masks do not provide protection as tight fitting RPE

Respirators / masks do not provide protection as tight fitting RPE

The latest Health & Safety Executive (HSE) research has revealed that ear loop respirators/masks do not provide adequate protection when used as tight fitting respiratory protective equipment (RPE).

Where RPE is issued by an employer, it must be able to provide adequate protection for an individual wearer.

For the majority of workers who are required to wear tight fitting RPE in the workplace, this seal cannot be achieved with a respirator/mask relying on ear loops to hold it in place.

To be considered effective, the RPE must fit the wearer’s face and must not leak. See here to find out more about our face fit testing.
